He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Portland in Oregon with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry. He then returned home to attend the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine for medical school and then completed his pediatric residency at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, while also having served as pediatric chief resident. Dr. Diep also speaks conversational Cantonese and Chiu Chow/Teochew.
